It’s cool, that from the southern part of Matterhorn Glacier you can go downhill right to the Italian ski resort Val d’Aosta and return back to the other side on the lift.
There is the longest run in the whole Europe and one of the highest snowpark in the Alps.
There is also off-piste 6-8 days Haute Route for ski/snowboard freeride tours from Zermatt to French Chamonix with the guide and expert skills. There are huts, lodges and innes along the route, but it also requires climbing up many times.
Zermatt is car-free village with the freshest air. All the cars are left down the mountain and you go 30 minutes by train up to the mountain village, where the bunch of hotels and restaurants are located.
